The successful compilation The Best And The Rare Of Gama Records alreadycontained a high proportion of German heavy metal from the eighties. Now the GoldenCore label is delving even further into the matter!Inspired by finds that came up during the work on the Gama Sampler, we teamed upwith the fanzine Sound x26 Action.The magazine is a real specialist in the field of German Heavy Metal of the 80s.Editor Oliver Butz is also a private collector and archivist, especially when it comesto the Vorderpfalz region. Neudi from Golden Core Records originally comes from theLudwigshafen area and has experienced the scene there. He is also right in the thick ofthings: since 2016, he has been the drummer for one of the very first metal bands fromGermany: Trance.In addition to a few contributions that the two can call regional from their point ofview (Trance is probably the most well-known here as well), you can find rarities fromall corners of Germany. The best known bands are Avenger (predecessor group of Rage,here with a piece of a 12 single), Mass, Black Jack Co (predecessor of the speed troupeSDI) and Xandril.We are already talking about insider topics at this point. Jutta Weinhold should be awell-known name among rock fans. She is represented with an unreleased (!) recordingfrom 1978 (!). She is supported by a band that belongs to the absolute Who Is Who ofKrautrock. This oldest song on Sound x26 Action thus represents German hard rock(or proto-metal), which was important for later artists. An interesting contrast to thisis the crude and partly dragging death metal of the almost unknown band Excess andthe hectic speed metal of Defender from Speyer. Examples from almost 160 minutes ofmetallic content!Most of the contributions on this double CD should be new to the ears of almost all metalfans. It is a pity to consider how many talented bands fell by the wayside for no reasonin the eighties and nineties. Sound x26 Action Volume One is the first step of a kind ofmission of the two compilers responsible. On this compilation, rare singles, songs fromhard-to-find regional LP compilations, CD in-house productions and of course demotapes are dug up, restored and remastered, so that in 2021 they can tell their part of thestory of German Metal. Fortunately, there were hardly any sound problems, only fourtracks at the end of CD 2 have small losses, which are discussed in more detail in thebooklet. The rest comes out of the speakers like the heroes of the eighties used to, forthe most part fresher than many current bands
