Antique 8” THOMAS WEBB MOROCCAN TAPESTRY Gilded Enamel Floral Glass Vase, 19th C, SUPERB

Antique ENGLISH Opaline Hand Painted Gilded Floral Glass Vase, made by THOMAS WEBB & SONS, circa 1870-1890, the most famous maker of high quality luxury glass from the late 19th Century to today. The vase is of white opaline glass, overlaid or cased with pale greeny-yellow glass & then superbly hand painted with chinoiserie polychrome enamel panels - enamel scrolling arabesques in blight yellow, green, and pale blue with gilding and daisy-like flowers of white, purple & orange. The shoulders of the vase have blue enamelling with daisies and branches- leaf designs in brown and green. Light blue on rim with decorative enamelling. Light lines of gilding between panels. The overall effect is stunning - this is a top quality example of later 19th C decorative arts, with clear Oriental & Islamic influences in the design. Absolutely beautiful.
