Rare Vintage JBL (James B Lansing) Hartsfield corner horn. This N-500H crossover shows that this was produced October of 1955, making it a very early example. The serial number on the unmolested 375 horn is #813 off the line. The horn has remainders of the original wax seals showing it has never been opened or tampered with, they are stamped "L" for Lansing, though one has fallen out and is included in a bag. The woofer is #1193, if I am reading the serial.number, also produced in october of 1955.

I was the first person to open the woofer chamber since 1955 to reveal the museum condition EARLY Jim Lansing Signature 150-4C driver, as the screw heads showed no indication of ever having been turned.  The woofer is from before the (!) Aluminum Logo over the motor vent.

The cabinet has been very beautifully refinished with lacquer and looks very close to factory. Unfortunately, when I got it, the Lansing logo had been removed by an amateur. Included is a photo of the two staple areas where the original instruction sheet would have stapled on the back, as seen on other early top load Hartsfields.

This speaker is not perfect, but it shows amazingly well for a 69 year old piece of audio history! The Lansing heritage forum has a story from a guy who worked at JBL and complained that the early top loaders were difficult to install the lower 2 screws and how he always cut his hands installing them, and that is evidenced by the slight forward rounding of the lower two screws inside my example.

The top edge, bottom edge, and bottom kick panel have been professionally re-veneered to match the original veneer. I opted to try my hardest to preserve as much of the originality as possible on this speaker rather than over-restoring it. I have pictures of the restoration process upon request.

How does it sound? Like a hartsfield! Amazing full sound that projects FAR out into the room and doss so effortlessly with very little need for much power. Mono recordings sound absolutely fantastic on it! This truly is a world class speaker.

I am currently using this as a center fill with a pair of open baffle Jensen G610B's, which are also for sale in my other listings.
