This book is a “Modern Standard Authors” edition of “The Forsyte Saga,”John Galsworthy’s first trilogy in “The Forsyte Chronicles” - one of the most popular and enduring works of 20th century literature - chronicle the ebbing social power of the commercial upper-middle class Forsyte family. Galsworthy's masterly narrative examines not only their fortunes but also the wider developments within society, particularly the changing position of women. The author has drawn a fascinating and accurately detailed picture of the British propertied class.


This first trilogy comprises three volumes: Volume I: The Man of Property; Volume II: Indian Summer of a Forsyte and In Chancery; and Volume III: Awakening and To Let. The book features an introduction by Percy Hutchison.


This 396-page book, without dustjacket, was published in 1934 by Charles Scribner’s Sons.


Condition: The book is in good condition, with clean pages, tight binding, and coverboards and spine edges that show light wear, with some bumping on one corner of the front coverboard. The spine imprint is clear, but faded.
