this is an archaeological report on excavations in the cloister of Oxford Cathedral in advance of re-landscaping. The foundations of a detached buttressed bell tower were examined and dated to immediately post dissolution of the former Augustinian Priory of St Frideswide, in the early years of the newly established Cathedral Church of Christchurch Oxford. c. 1542 .
