PLEASE NOTE: Due to agricultural restrictions, we do not ship plants to California.

Malvaviscus drummondii is a close relative of Hibiscus. The name Dwarf Turk's Cap refers only to the flowers and leaves; it actually grows naturally into a very large bush, more than 6 feet tall and wide, but can be shaped to any size by pruning. It blooms year-round, with a beautiful contrast between bright red flowers and dark green foliage. The flowers are upright, and about 1.5" long. It is quite different from the hanging Turk's cap, Malvaviscus penduliflorus, which has larger, pendent flowers that bloom mostly in winter and spring, and much larger, lighter green leaves. It blooms well in full sun or half shade, with any soil or amount of water. It is a tropical species, winter hardy in zones 9-11, and root hardy in zone 8.

Small plants are starter plants between 5 and 15 inches tall or long in pots that are 2.5" square x 3.5" deep. Large plants generally have more than one growing shoot or branch, and are between 15 and 22 inches tall or long in pots that are 3.5" square x 5" deep. Please rely on this description, rather than the photos, to determine what size plant you will receive.

All photographs used in our listings are our own, taken at our nursery or in the gardens where the parent plants are grown. This is so our customers know what they are getting, and can be sure that the plants perform as advertised. Permission is NOT granted to use our photographs for any commercial purposes.

PLEASE READ OUR RETURN/REFUND POLICY BEFORE MAKING A PURCHASE: We are not able to offer a 14 day return policy for plants as we do for seeds and merchandise. We ship plants in excellent condition, Priority Mail, and we immobilize them in the box with packing peanuts. If, despite our best efforts, the plant arrives dead or broken due to some negligence on our part, we will refund the purchase price or send you a replacement. You must notify us of the problem within 3 days of delivery, and send substantiating digital photos. Once you have had the plant for longer than 3 days, its condition is no longer our responsibility.

Thank you for your purchase, and happy gardening!

Jim
