Joseph Blumenthal, Bruce Rogers, A Life in Letters, W. Thomas Taylor 1989.  Bruce Rogers of course is widely recognized as one of the most famous American book and type designers, if not the most famous, and here you have a book beautifully printed(as is appropriate given the subject)wherein Joseph Blumenthal, himself a distinguished bookman, tells the life story of Rogers, with an emphasis on his life and work with books.  This is a large format hard copy book in excellent condition, with 57 illustrations of Rogers’ work.  Tom Taylor, the publisher, is Texas’ foremost printer and fine press publisher of the last 40 years, with a national reputation, and clearly took great care in the preparation of this volume, which was limited to 2000 copies.  Rogers never wrote an autobiography, and Blumenthal’s book is the last and probably final word on Rogers, a book anyone interested in fine press work and/or Rogers should have—and read, because Blumenthal writes engagingly, with ample use of Rogers’ letters and other first hand sources.  This book should be on any booklover’s shelf, and in this beautiful edition.
