The Badminton Library SHOOTING FIELD and COVERT Sixth Edition (Reprinted 1987) Illustrated. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.
A 1980s reprint of the sixth edition of the famous Badminton Library of sports and pastimes', book on game shooting.  Originally the series was printed in the 1880s/90s and early1900s. 'Shooting Field and Covert' was one of the two books originally published in the series on shooting, the other being 'Shooting Moor and Marsh'. This book covers game shooting for pheasant, partridge, woodpigeon and rabbits, but also has sections on the history of shooting, choice of guns, gunmaking, gamekeepers and poachers.
Bound in a black buckram/cloth with gilt lettering to the front board and spine, including the coat of arms of the Duke of Beaufort (from Badminton) who wrote the forward to the originals.  This reprinted edition by Ashford Press Publishing of Southampton, has a forward from the 8th Duke of Beaufort (great great grandson of the original Duke). Written by Lord Walsingham and Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey two of the most pre-eminent shooting sportsmen of their day and the book contains many fine black and white illustrations.
These reprinted editions never came in a dust jacket and as such this copy is in near 'new' condition. The originals are becoming increasingly hard to find in any condition and these 1980s reprints are now also desirable and offer an interesting glimpse into the shooting of old,
