You are watching a Solid State Music/Solid State Micro Technology for Music SSM2044 VCF replacement. This is based on Sound Semiconductor SSI2144 reproduction of the original chip. Sound Semiconductor is headed by Dan Parks, the founder of Solid State Music. The SSI2144 uses the same internal circuit as the SSM2044 but incorporates improvements by the original designer (electronic music icon Dave Rossum) and takes advantage of modern process technology. SSI2144 uses a SSOP package so I made this PCB and used a really high quality DIL header.

It is incredibly small, same width and depth of a DIL chip and the pins are extremely thin, made to be used in a regular DIL socket without damaging it or soldering directly to PCB. This is a NEW chip, recently produced and surely much more reliable than old chips made more than 30 years ago.

I installed many of these chips in Korg Polysix, Kawai SX210, Doepfer A-105 etc. (check pictures). This chip was also used in Kawai SX240, Solton Programmer 24, 24S and Arranger Plus, Crumar Bit 01, E-mu Emulator I, Drumulator, SP-12 and SP1200, Korg Trident and Mono/Poly, PPG Wave 2.2/2.3, Siel DK-600, DK-700, Opera 6, Kiwi and many others.

All units are tested in one of my Polysix or SX210 - I SOLD OVER 100 OF THESE IN EBAY
