Onkyo was the last audio manufacturer to abandon cassette deck technology and quality construction and made some of the best decks available in the mid/late 1980's.  They invested a great deal of resources into the technology related to this segment of their lineup and remained heavily marketing decks in Europe and Asia long after their competitors.  This TA-2028 is a one owner unit purchased at a military PX in South Korea.  The TA-2028 was not available in North America.  It is based on the technology of the Integra 2058/2048 series and was an incredible value in 1986 compared to the price tag of the 2048 and 2058.  The TA-2028 is essentially an Integra 2048 sharing the following features:

The only differences between the 2028 and Integra 2048 are the 2048 has a three motor transport vs. the two motor transport on the 2028, plus the 2048 has Dolby HX Pro and additional timer features.  Other than that they are the same deck.  This unit has been gone through and the chassis, inputs, pots, switches, heads, recording trough, rollers, and capstans have been cleaned, and the belts and tire rejuvenated with a silicone polymer solvent.  It is in oustanding cosmetic condition.  All patch cables and a copy of the original service manual are included.
