You are bidding on a rare McLoughlin Bros children's booklet entitled SULKY MARY and Other Tales.  It is the 10th book in the Willie Winkie's Series.  The booklet measures approximately 6 3/4 by 5 1/2 inches and has 9 stories which give advice to children about manners and behavior. The book dates from 1863-1866 evidenced by the publisher address at 30 Beekman Street in New York City. The 9 stories are in full color and are entitled: Sulking; Giving with Prudence; The Field Daisy; Learning by Heart; Improvement; The Mouse; Short Advice; The Little Girl that Beat her Sister; and A Very Good Boy.  The renowned artist is Edward P. Cogger.  If you look closely at the story entitled The Little Girl Who Beat Her Sister, you will see it is signed Cogger below the mother's dress (see photo #6). Cogger was an illustrator and engraver who worked for McLoughlin Bros in the 1850's until his death in 1902.  Cogger's engraving work contributed greatly to McLoughlin Bros' success post Civil War.  As to condition, the white string biding is still intact (see photo #1), all 12 pages (including covers) have no writings.  There is slight foxing which is commensurate with age. The title, Sulky Mary, is a rare one and difficult to find.  Please contact me with all questions before bidding. Happy Bidding!
