Ginger & Pickles, FIRST EDITION, half-title, frontispiece and 10 colour plates, black and white vignette on title, light soiling, publisher's green boards with inset colour pictorial panel to upper cover, pictorial endpapers, light soiling and wear [Linder p. 428; Quinby, 17], 8vo, Frederick Warne, 1909. A nice copy.

Originally a manuscript presented to Harold Warne's daughter as a Christmas present, but with one of the illustrations it contained cut-out for use in the book. The tale tells of two shopkeepers, the eponymous Ginger & Pickles, who extend unlimited credit to their customers (a veritable who's-who of characters fromBeatrix's other works) and, as a result, are forced to go out of business. One of Warne's larger format Potter books.
