WRITING WRITING - A COMPOSTION BOOK FOR MADISON 1953

This is a first edition thus published by Trask House in 1971 (originally published in 1964) in 1000 copies (stated). It's stapled with 60 pages. The book is in immaculate condition for its age. This copy was given by Robert Duncan to Joanna McClure who was a close friend of Robert Duncan and his partner, Jess Collins. Joanna and her husband Beat icon, Michael McClure were neighbors of Robert Duncan and Jess.

This copy has the two-page errata that is often missing. The errata has a new poem that is not present in the book. A beautiful and unusual book in which Duncan pays homage to Gertrude Stein whom he admired greatly.

*****INSCRIBED BY JOANNA MCCLURE TO HER PUBLISHER, SOHEYL DAHI (SORE DOVE PRESS)*****

Joanna McClure is a member of the group of poets who came to be known as Women of the Beat Generation. In her 90s now, she is still active and vibrant. She was present at the famous reading at Gallery Six and met Jack Kerouac that evening. Michael McClure was also a reader that evening.

Michael McClure, was married to Joanna for 33 years, he was an original beat poet. He is sorely missed.
