Gladiolus aureus, a very rare species from the SW Cape of South Africa. It is considered “critically endangered” due to a multitude of threats. I recommend an excellent article posted by SANBI on the web. In cultivation it has proved easy to grow here in small (5”) pots in a mix of mostly pumice with sand and some peat. This is a good general mix for many of the bulbs I sell. Sale item = 10 seeds.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. My goal is to sell unusual plants to people who enjoy growing them. I expect you will be satisfied with your purchase upon receipt and for years afterward. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your plants within 30 days of receipt, please send me a message so I can make things right by refund or some other agreement. Going directly to the negative or “neutral” feedback option first eliminates options for resolving an issue amicably. Buyers who “open a case” to resolve a simple issue such as item condition or late arrival without contacting me first will be blocked.

Cultivating plants is greatly enhanced by ongoing seed propagation. The best way to learn is by frequent and consistent practice. Every individual seed may not grow into a prized specimen, but sowing and nurturing it is always a rewarding learning experience.
Seeds offered by dylansbulbs are produced on plants in my collection on a regular basis. Most seeds are freshly harvested in the current season or the prior season. After this period, seeds are kept under refrigeration and represent species that have proved over the years to have good germination rates after months or years of storage.
When growing plants from seed, a certain attrition level is inevitable, even when seeds and conditions are optimal. Because of this and due to the fact that I have no control over the techniques or conditions for any recipient, I do not make any warranty of seed viability or performance.
Seed value. Seeds offered by dylansbulbs are outstanding because they are rare and of high quality. In addition, most items are provided with locality information. A notation such as "Originally from Mexico: near Colima" indicates its origin, or provenance. Objects on the Antiques Roadshow are highlighted in a similar way-- the importance of a signature or mark helps to establish its history and value. Plants also have interesting and useful histories but it is more challenging to obtain and keep this information with any particular specimen or variety. This data is a type of authentication that can help the grower learn about cultivation requirements (elevation, latitude, etc.) and makes any plant more valuable for general interest, conservation, research, trading or verifying names. For me these considerations bring greater depth and appeal to collecting and I hope they will for you also.
