The Tale of Two Bad Mice 1904, London and New York. 85pp. Very rare. Excellent boards and spine with only slight rubbing. Slight darkening to the pages at the top. Internally there is a neat inscription. The frontis/title page has become detached from the main text block - this can easily be reattached. Otherwise all pages in very good condition.

The Tale of Two Bad Mice was jointly inspired by a pet mouse of Potter's and by Norman Warne's construction of a dollhouse for his niece. Potter adopted the mouse after it was caught in a trap and named it Hunch Munca. Hunca Munca turned out to be quite personable and proved a good drawing model for Potter, her cleanly habits even provided inspiration for her fictional counterpart. Sadly Hunca Munca died after falling from a chandelier after playing with Potter.
