Songs of Experience

William Blake

Published by Minton Blach & Co., New York, 1927

Originally published in the 1790s, William Blake s "Songs of Innocence" is a collection of his best poems. Songs of Experience, originally published in 1794, built upon the work that Blake had done in Songs of Innocence , in which he engraved copperplates in relief and then painted the plates by hand. This book set is of one of Blake s most beautiful and popular works of a collection of poems, printed from a copy housed at the British Museum. The poems themselves center around mythology, child enslavement, the spiritual world, and the balance between childlike-innocence and a sinful, fallen world. This rare edition includes 52 color plates!
