Some of these purses have what I think is called a frame closure. You pull them apart in the middle and it stays open with metal bands and hinges on the sides. You close it by pushing the metals bands back together.

Beige shoulder bag with broken strap and frame closure, the leather or vinyl at the top is quite cracked, the body of the bag is made of a metal mesh (flexible metal squares connected with small metal rings underneath), polyester or nylon lining
