This Indian HMT Kailash wristwatch for men features a mechanical automatic movement with 21 jewels and a black dial with a day/date window. The watch is made of stainless steel and has a silver strap with a lug width of 17-18mm. It is not water resistant and does not come with papers, service records, or original box/packaging. The watch is a great addition to any collection and is perfect for everyday wear. It has a screw-back case-back and is octagonal in shape. I'm not sure if the day/date window is missing or if that is how it is supposed to be, but doesn't spoil the look of the piece. The crown winds the movement up, which appears to tick along nicely and the day/dat function turns over as it should. However I am not a watchmaker or an expert in watches and therefore, cannot guarantee the accuracy/time-keeping of this piece. It runs smoothly and ticks nicely but, as with all mechanical watches, a service 'may' be required. With mechanical watches, if not already ticking, you have to wind the crown clockwise gently and slowly until you feel resistance. The watch will then begin working as it should. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a message and I'll answer as best as I can! :)

HMT, known as Hindustan Machine Tools, was an Indian Manufacturing company that was founded in 1953. In 1961, the company created their watch division, in collaboration with the Japanese watch company Citizen. Pieces such as the Janata and Pilot became very popular amongst many. During the 1970's and 1980's, HMT became the largest seller of wrist watches in India and are still popular with many today.
