With these older Touch models when you first register with Amazon it will say it hasn't worked (very misleading). However, go to the email that you are signing up with and there is a a One Time Passcode sent to it to be used within 10 minutes.
This was the last model of Kindle to feature a headphone socket for personal listening to a book or MP3 music files.
Please note that Amazon no longer supports older Kindle models to browse for, buy, or borrow books directly. However, you can still access your existing library from your Kindle. You can also deliver newly purchased or borrowed books to it, or download books from your "Archived Items." New books can still be purchased from Amazon from your phone, Kindle app. or computer. They can then be directly delivered to the Kindle or accessed from the Kindle via the Archived items menu.You can of course still continue to transfer books to the Kindle via a usb cable connected to a computer, laptop or tablet.
