About Red Clover Flowers (Trifolium pratense):

Red clover's brightly colored flowers contain many nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. They're also a rich source of isoflavones. These are compounds that act as phytoestrogens, plant chemicals similar to the female hormone estrogen.

Red Clover is primarily nutritive, but also used to support proper lymphatic function (alterative), immune support, healthy skin, and proper endocrine function. It does contain genistein, daidzein, and biochannin-A among other isoflavones and concentrated standardized remedies made from this plant deliver these chemicals in an isolated state.                                             How to use/consume Dried Red Clover Tops/Flowers?

                                            Tea/Infusion Recipe 1: 
                                            1 tbsp. herb is boiled for 10 minutes with 250 ml of water. It is drunk for 1 day.

                                            Tea/Infusion Recipe 2: 
                                            Use one to three teaspoons of dried red clover flowers for every cup of simmering (not boiling) water. Let steep for 15 minutes.

                                            Externally: 
                                            1 - 2 tbsp. herb are boiled for 10 minutes with 250ml of water. For external use, compresses and paws are made.

                                            Compress: 
                                            Place dried flowers in a small bowl, pour boiling water over to just cover. Cover with a lid and leave to infuse until cool enough to put on the skin. 
                                            Arthritis = hot compress, Eczema or Psoriasis = room temperature.

                                            Red clover Cough Syrup:
                                            Use 100 ml of infusion/decoction to 100g sugar (use white sugar, as it is less likely to ferment). Warm infusion/decoction, stir in sugar until completely dissolved cool and pour into sterilized bottle(s) and stop with a cork. Refrigerate to lessen chance of fermentation. Dose 5-10 ml 3x daily.
