6.5 x 3.5"      Half-titles; engraved frontispiece, viii, 328; 330, errata leaf; 352; 236; 330, leaf of St. Foix's works.  Volume III also contains a 4-page catalogue of works available by the publisher for the years 1758 & 1759.

Saint-Foix served with the Musketeers until the year 1734, after which he devoted himself to the writing of history and a total of 20 comedies.  This work covers a great deal of Parisian and other French history, with many scenes of violence, much on antiquities, etc.

A very attractive set in full contemporary tiger-striped calf, leather double spine labels, spine decorated in gilt, traces of gilding on edges, page edges stained in red, marbled endpapers, nice bookplate on front pastedown of each volume, some minor wear to spine ends & covers, 3/4 x 1/4" abrasion on spine of vol. II, some very light browning on outer leaves, contents o/w clean and crisp.
