A common failure on the JVC QL-A2 turntables (and others using the same mechanism) is the Tonearm Lift mechanism - the internal plastic mechanism fails with age and the silicone oil stiffening as it dries out over decades.  The primary symptom of this failure is the tonearm lifter lever not doing anything - it toggles, but doesn't lift the tonearm.  To verify the failure, you'll have to take the bottom off the turntable and inspect it.  You may find a piece of the cam rattling around as well.

This auction is for a set of two replacement cams, reverse engineered and 3D printed.  One is the stock dimensions, and the other is a thicker, stronger replacement that still fits within the original mechanism dimensions.  These are solid printed, and I've been using one of these in my personal turntable for a year with no issues at all.  The latest batch is ABS plastic, stronger than the previous batches!

Color may vary!  These are printed from the end of spools - some are red, some are grey, some are other colors.  If you want a specific color, please contact me and ask what I have available!

If you're replacing this, you MUST replace the silicone damping oil as well!  The right oil to use for this application is the 500k CST tonearm damping oil - you can find it from some other vendors on eBay.  The 300k oil is too thin to properly control the drop speed - the tonearm comes down faster than it should.  The damping oil goes between the metal rotating part and the supports for it - it's obvious when you get the old one apart.  You may need to exercise and perhaps lubricate the rest of the lift system as well if it's been broken for decades - some white lithium grease is probably the right option.

Again, the auction is only for the two replacement cams - it does not include the rest of the turntable, or the metal bits of the mechanism.

These may work for other JVC turntables as well - if the part and mechanism look the same, this should work for them as well, and if you identify another turntable this works on, please send me a message and let me know so I can add it to the listing.  I've only personally verified compatibility with the QL-A2.

Buyers have confirmed compatibility with the JVC JL-A20, JL-A40, and JL-F45 and mentioned that it is also likely to work in the JL-A15, JL-A20, JL-F30 and QL-F4 - but I have not personally confirmed this. However, if your cuing assembly is part # E34240-002, this should work with your turntable.
