MAMOU – MAMOU CD

It's always disheartening when a great album slides by without receiving much attention. That's exactly what
happened with this little-known CD by the band Mamou, which specialized in a risk-taking blend of Cajun music
and rock. This adventurous, exuberant foursome (which writes in both French and English) doesn't hesitate to
draw on a variety of rock styles. While "Between the Lines" has a blues-rock appeal that wouldn't be out of place
on a ZZ Top album, Mamou brings a healthy amount of punk rock influence to "Bayou Teche," "Les Flammes
D'En Fer" and "Un Homme De Pitie," as well as the traditional "Jolie Blonde" (a song that anyone who's into
Louisiana music has heard at some point). This out-of-print album (which was recorded in Austin, TX.) is
hard to find and definitely worth obtaining.
