by Milton Caniff (1907-1988).  The strip was launched on January 13, 1947, 

fresh off Caniff’s lauded run on the TERRY AND THE PIRATES strip.  

STEVE CANYON concluded on June 4, 1988 

after an impressive 41 year run.
