Gorgeous 1950's era Vintage Circle Skirt Hand Sewn and Hand Painted in Mexico with an Aztec Warrior design.

Heche en Mexico

12

My measurements:

* Waist: 13.5" across =  27" around note that this could be adjusted some - see more below.

* Side length from top of waistband to hem: 30"

This has a unique waistband that involves one set of shorter ties with a hook and eye closure which you secure first and then you wrap the second longer set of ties around your waist and tie into a knot. The first set can be adjusted tighter by moving the hooks or looser by sewing on an extension - can't go too far or the side seams area could spread too far and expose skin or undergarments. Assuming the label goes in the back, the longer ties with knots will be worn in the front.

From my research this dates to the 1950's.  So the size is a vintage (smaller) size 12.

This would be great for dancing. It is a truly unique, eye catching piece that would be a stunning statement garment.

Black and metallic bronze were hand painted onto the fabric. This can be hand washed and layed out to dry. I did wash this and I also mended a few areas where the stitching was coming loose.

Overall this is in very good pre-owned vintage condition. There is some faint browning primarily along the hem edge. You can also see it when you compare the tie ends to the upper area of the skirt. There are random smaller faint brown dots or areas but they are not noticeable compared to the hand painted designs.
