Description: Are you ready for more Sesame Street: Old School? Awesome! Volume 3 covers 1979 through 1984 and is packed with classics like Monsterpiece Theater and Beatle Bailey. Furry new faces like Telly Monster, the Honkers, and Forgetful Jones move to the street! That street gets even longer when the whole cast—plus Big Bird and Oscar—travels to Puerto Rico for Maria's birthday! Gordon and Snuffleupagus get "footloose" as they lace up their running shoes and complete the New York City Marathon, and Big Bird packs his bags for summer camp. Getting reunited with memories from your childhood feels so good! The memories continue with this third volume of Sesame Street programming--this time encompassing the years 1979 through 1984. A kind of "greatest hits" format, this two-disc set features one full-length episode from each of seasons 11 through 15 as well as a selection of some of the most striking segments from each year. Season 11 opens with Maria traveling to Puerto Rico to visit her family and celebrate her 21st birthday and the rest of the Sesame Street gang planning a huge surprise. Season highlights feature pop-culture moments like a Beatles-inspired song about the letter b, Kermit in the thick of the disco craze, and a song in which Big Bird and Star Wars' R2-D2 discover that even those who are very different can still be friends. In later seasons, Big Bird heads off to his first day of school, bird watchers try to have Big Bird declared an endangered species and move him to a special sanctuary, Big Bird heads to camp, and Gordon and Snuffleupagus run the New York City Marathon. Favorite characters such as Kermit the Frog, Ernie and Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Grover are joined by quirky characters like the Honkers, Telly Monster, and Dr. Nobel Price, as well as guest stars Itzhak Perlman, Madeline Kahn, and Harry Belafonte, for a treasury of memories that will delight both young and old. Other favorite segments include pinball animation, ladybug picnic, Monsterpiece Theater, Henson ball power, dollhouse, and Twiddlebugs. The great thing about Sesame Street is its timeless appeal and the fact that its educational messages, which span from learning letters and numbers to life skills such as how to make friends and cooperate, are just as relevant to today's kids as they were to previous generations of viewers. That said, today's parents and grandparents will be especially interested in the bonus interview with Caroll Spinney and the backstage footage of the puppeteers hard at work filming some classic Sesame Street episodes.
