This is an older cut glass Bowl in an early motif/pattern cutting.

Measures:   8-1/8" wide top rim.  3-7/8" tall.

This is from the American Brilliant period (1870 to 1920's).

The early brilliant patterns were typically 1 or 2 geometric cuttings that filled the entire piece into 1 solid pattern.  Like the well known "Strawberry Diamond", this "Block" pattern was also an early one.  Though much harder to find than the Str. Dia. pattern.  Early companies like Dorflinger, New England who turned into Libbey, and Mt Washington who turned into Pairpoint, were the main early houses well known for this pattern.  The difference between their Block patterns shown in catalogs is seen in the rim where the splits go up into to teeth on this bowl- this exact cutting of "Block" can be seen in the c.1884 new England co catalog reprint, but it appears that New England had it un-named in the catalog.  "Block" would be the Generic term or collector's term for the pattern.

Condition:   It is over 130 years old.  There is some of the typical micro "contact nips" inside the top rim that no one will see, as it is well hidden and does not detract from the beauty.  Then there is a few small fleabite/chips on a few teeth I will point out in the close-ups.  These are not large enough to really detract from the beauty either and do not remove the teeth.
