One owner. I bought this camera and used it in the 90’s for sports photography** until I ‘went digital’ with D80’s. Fantastic camera to learn the art, or to capture stunning photos with the creativity that a manual film camera allows.

Photograph stunning moments with this outstanding Nikon FM2 SLR film camera. This silver version is totally functional, but has some outer cosmetic damage (see photos and description below**) from a drop at a photo shoot while attached to my Bogen tripod.

The camera boasts a number of features, including a built-in light meter and timer (needs new battery) to make your photography experience more enjoyable. This unit is perfect for film photography lovers who want to capture amazing shots in 35 mm format. Make your photography dreams come true with this amazing Nikon FM2 silver camera!

**During a windy outdoor photo shoot at a local ball field, this camera…..while attached to my professional Bogen tripod…..was literally blown over by a springtime gust of wind. Nothing was broken, including my Sunpak flash……and the camera stayed attached to the tripod.

However, the base plate (where the tripod was attached) was slightly bent, or warped. You can still attach your tripod, but it holds a little less firmly than before. If you don’t plan to use a tripod, it’s a non-factor.

Also, the top plate was slightly bent on the left side (with the film winder). The only functionality affected by this is the release knob (to open the back to access the film) requires maybe a little more effort because it now slightly rubs the top plate, but still works fine. Hopefully the ad’s photos make it very clear the extent and location of the damage described.

KEEP IN MIND, I used this camera in its current state for two years after this mishap. You can be confident you’re getting a perfectly functional FM2. IF you decide to replace the parts that are bent, the parts are inexpensive and available…. I simply didn’t see the need.

Regarding the focus screen, please refer to the last 2 photos in the ad! For the purposes of sports photography cropping, I had the retailer ‘etch’ the focus screen to aid in proper placement of the individual and/or teams so images would not exceed the edges of the prints. The ‘etchings’ on the screen DO NOT APPEAR ON YOUR PRINTS/PHOTOS, OR AFFECT THE FUNCTION OF THE CAMERA!!…..they are simply guides in the viewfinder.

The smaller etch, useful in portrait/vertical mode, was my guide for the top of the subject’s head….and while in landscape/horizontal mode, the two longer etchings on either side was my guide to keep my teams centered in the frame. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Again, the focus screen etchings DO NOT AFFECT THE PRINT, but are simply a guide that you may also find useful in your endeavors to master the craft. If after using the camera for a while you find the etchings are visually distracting, you can easily replace the focus screen with a kit that sells for around $50.
