Here we have a new-old-stock, sealed, Kurt Adler Polonaise (Poland) special edition wooden crate set of 3 Peanuts blown-glass Christmas ornaments. This is one of the rarer sets, a combination of ornaments that we haven't seen anywhere else in our Internet searches. At press time, there were no identical crate sets for sale on eBay. This set is sealed in its original packaging within the crate. We're not sure if the crate was offered sealed as well, but the existence of the original price tag from Carson's (Carson Pirie Scott) department store applied directly to the bottom of the crate strongly suggests that the crate wasn't sealed in plastic.

Included in this lot: the original wood crate; the original packing paper and egg crate foam; and three ornaments, including Charlie Brown dressed up as Santa, a large round ball with a wreath encircling a sleeping Snoopy and a wide-awake Woodstock nose-to-nose, and a Snoopy dressed up as Santa. We have another Peanuts crate in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost.

Vintage: undated; circa mid-1990s

Approximate measurements: crate measures 4.75" high x 14" long x 9.5" wide; for ornaments, please see photos with rulers

ConditionOur photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. Very clean and fresh pieces, with nothing sticky or otherwise gross, and no funky odors. New-old-stock set, with ornaments and packing materials in original sealed packaging. Most, if not all, of the crate sets were made with only one ornament having hang tags, which is the case with this set. From what we can see through the packaging, set is as-new. Glass is bright and shiny, with vivid color, and no chips, cracks, peeled paint, oxidation, or rubs were seen on the ornaments. Sometimes the packaging can rub against the paint, causing damage, but we see no evidence of that either. Since the ornaments rest on top of about a 4-inch thick pile of shredded paper and egg crate foam, the backs of them should be in mint condition. If any part of these ornaments was going to suffer, it would be the parts on top that can be seen, and that hasn't happened. There is also a thick egg crate foam sheet on top. It fits into the lid perfectly, but you'll want to remove it to read the history of the artisan family who created the ornaments. Everything is very fresh and clean, and no funky odors are present. The condition of this set should make any collector very happy.

We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
