“Crucifix in a Deathhand was the biggest book of Bukowoski’s career to date, and the Webbs [Lou and Gypsy Webb] did another beautiful design job. Printed in a large format, and illustrated with nightmarish etchings by Noel Rockmore, it looked like an album of Gothic fairy tales"

A magnificently illustrated and printed book with illustrated paper covers, leaves of varying widths and colors with deckle fore edges, cover etching and four full page black and white etchings.

From the colophon: "Thirty-one hundred copies of this first edition hand-set in Bulmen Roman, American Uncial & others, have been printed, hand-fed in single-page impressions, on Linweave Spectra paper in shades of ivory, white, peacock, gobelin, bayberry, bittersweet & saffron, on an 8 by 12 C. & P. letterpress in New Orleans. Edited, designed, printed and handbound by Loujon Press editors Louise and Jon Webb, with delivery begun in April 1965 of books as they were completed to publisher Lyle Stuart, Inc., N.Y.C."
