A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, William Shakespeare, illustrated by Arthur Rackham, Easton Press, 1967
Among the privileged subscribers to The Collector's Library of Famous Editions there must be many who dreamed (whether on a midsummer's night or any other time) that one day they could actually possess a volume of Shakespeare first printed in his own century. Little did you bardolaters think that there would ever come into your hands a book so authentic and beautiful as this inspired and famous recreation of a seventeenth-century version of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM IS A COMEDY WRITTEN BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE IN ABOUT 1595. THE PLAY IS SET IN ATHENS AND CONSISTS OF SEVERAL SUBPLOTS THAT REVOLVE AROUND THE MARRIAGE OF THESEUS AND HIPPOLYTA.
ONE SUBPLOT INVOLVES A CONFLICT AMONG FOUR ATHENIAN LOVERS. ANOTHER FOLLOWS A GROUP OF SIX AMATEUR ACTORS REHEARSING THE PLAY WHICH THEY ARE TO PERFORM BEFORE THE WEDDING. BOTH GROUPS FIND THEMSELVES IN A FOREST INHABITED BY FAIRIES WHO MANIPULATE THE HUMANS AND ARE ENGAGED IN THEIR OWN DOMESTIC INTRIGUE. THE PLAY IS ONE OF SHAKESPEARE'S MOST POPULAR AND IS WIDELY PERFORMED.
