Universal History of The World, Edited by J.A. Hammerton, 8 Volumes
These volumes cover the history of the world, from a military, economic, historical, philosophical and other perspectives.
The editor describes the volumes as "Written by One Hundred and Fifty of our Foremost Living Authorities in all Branches of Historical Knowledge". Each chapter in each volume is written by a different person, and features figures which are prominent today like the economist John Maynard Keynes.
The volumes cover the beginning of the world (The 1st chapter is titled "The Birth of the World" and is focused on Cosmology) until the early 1920's (which the last book describes as the "Modern Times")
Since the last book covers events from the early 1920's, the volumes can be dated to the mid/late 1920's, thus making these books close to 100 years old.

Books size: 25 x 17 cm, (10 x 7 inches) approx. This is a few cm larger than modern day hardbacks.
The volumes are all hardback with no dust jacket (as original they did not have dust jackets)
Condition: Good/Fair
1. The covers have some marks and slight discolouration in spots, as can be expected with age and can be seen in the pictures.
2. There are some ripples in the pages. Pages themselves are clean and free of tears or holes.
3. There are also some illustrations in colour/black and white. Some of them have tears (see picture 8)
4. Binding on some volumes are weak from its age (see picture 2), though all books stand upright and no pages are loose/falling out.
The books show signs of age, but are all in readable condition and fit right in with an existing book collection.
