The camera records with the included Hi8 tape. It has a pop-up that says the head is dirty and to use a cleaner cassette.

This does not seem to stop the recording so it can be ignored but could use a head cleaning.

Please keep this in mind before purchasing.

The top plastic cover is missing 3 screws, so the plate falls off easily.
