The Poetical Works of John Milton, with Notes of Various Authors, Principally from the Editions of Thomas Newton, D.D., Charles Dunster, M.A. and Thomas Warton, B.D. to Which is Prefixed, Newton's Life of Milton. By Edward Hawkins, M.A. Fellow of Oriel College.

Printed by W. Baxter, for J. Parker; and G. B. Whittaker, London. 1824. (1) 430p, (2) 560p. Volume 2 has a printing error where the pagination jumps from 512 to 573, but all pages are accounted for with nothing missing.

This volume set bound in burgundy straight-grained morocco goatskin with titling and decorations in gilt on spine, gilt dentelles, blind tooling and decorations to the spine and boards, all edges gilt.

This is a very handsome set with light to moderate wear to the binding and light foxing towards the extremities, but overall the bindings are tight and the contents are clean and bright. Volume 1 features the bookplate of Maximilian Dalison, Esq. This is a truly academic edition with extensive footnotes throughout.

This appears to be the first two volumes of a four volume set and contains Newton's Life of Milton and the entirety of Paradise Lost.
