First issue of the text with "pendula" on page 9, and a bullet between the two 8's of the page number on page 88. 186 pp. Bound in publisher's cloth stamped in orange and black. Near Fine with a slight lean to binding, light dampstain to front board with spot of rippling to bottom edge. Top edge faded with trivial scratching and light staining. Evidence of former owner bookplate removal to front pastedown, hinge slightly over-opened at half-title page. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light toning to spine, light staining and modest edge wear. A very bright copy.

John Steinbeck's Western novella about the struggles of two itinerant farm workers, George and Lennie, in California during the Great Depression. One of only 2,500 copies printed in the first issue.
