This listing is for a vintage C.G. Conn Ltd. alto saxophone. The serial number is M267,xxx, which indicates a c.1935 production date. This is a transitional era Conn, built in the period during which they were gradually shifting the design from that of the New Wonder II (Chu Berry) to that of the 6M (Naked Lady). These are widely considered to be among the best Conns ever produced!

Since this one falls late in the transitional period it is much closer to the 6M in design. The only feature of the earlier model that I see is that it has the older style micro-tuner. Everything else is 6M. The neck has a double walled tenon with an underslung octave key. It has the updated palm and side keys, including the scooped high E key touch. The left-hand pinky key cluster is the more modern style. It even has the standard 6M "naked lady" engraving. Additionally, it has an adjustable thumb hook, a feature only found on late transitional period Conns, which was not included on the fully developed 6M. Of course, like all Conns from this time frame, it has rolled tone holes, locking pivot screws, and a G# trill key.

This horn is in overall very good physical condition. The body is straight. The neck has not been pulled down or otherwise damaged, however the tuner is not turning. I don't think it will be a major problem for your tech to get it freed up though. There are a few minor dings, but no significant dents. The rim of the bell has not been bent. I don't see any pushed in posts or key guard feet. The key guards are not bent. I don't see any re-soldered joints. The keys are all moving freely and rebounding properly, and the rollers are all turning. The lacquer, unfortunately, is not original. It shows wear and scratching throughout. The engraving is light, but still visible. The pads are in very good condition. They look relatively new, and they are clean and soft/supple. There are some minor leaks and adjustment issues, which you will want to have addressed for optimum playability, but it does play easily from top to bottom in its current state.

This sax comes in its original hard, wood shell "doubler" case (it can accommodate a clarinet on the interior of the lid). The case is in fair condition. It is generally solid, but there is some separation of the wood joints. I would recommend adding a brace to stabilize this. Other than that, it has normal wear and tear that would be expected based on its age.

There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included.
