This is a masterpiece micro petit point lumbar-style oblong pillow. The front of the pillow features a repeating diamond-shaped pattern in hues of white, pale gold and shades of light and dark blue, with a complimentary border. An endless number of delicate stitches unite to create its elegant design. It is a captivating conversation starter, a tiny heirloom to be treasured.
This is a vintage, one-of-a-kind creation made by the talented IGMA Fellow, Sharon Garmize, who is renowned for her fine petit point needlework. She did all of her needlework on silk gauze, and this pillow has a beautiful silk back in a coordinating black color as a sumptuous detail. This one is not signed but Sharon made all 75 pillows in this collection for the former owners. Picture this pillow on an armchair, sofa or bed as an inviting touch. This is very rare to find...once in a great while you can find a 'pillow kit' that she used to sell, but one made by her and nonetheless a commissioned piece is extremely rare. Sharon created over 40 pillows for the former owner over a 10 year period.
By the way, did you know that micro petit point uses 3,000 stitches square per inch?
