vintage MCM accent table

two levels Oval Floating Glass

with lathe-turned Tapered Birch Legs.

Height:  top tier 26"  lower tier 16"  legs 27"

Glass Oval:  24" X 15.5"

It's an early RTA! Each 3-section leg consists of a full-height tapered lower with dowel extending through a "barrel" between glass shelves, and capped by screw-on hemispheres.

Wood finish on legs is original shellac, in great condition showing warm orange glow.  Ball caps have been re-finished.

Has the original greennfelt "washers" between wood and glass; except, I made neoprene disks for "sealing"  top glass & ball caps.  Three of these original felts were missing.

Unmarked, though may have been designed by Gilbert Rohde, probably for Herman Miller or Heywood Wakefield, ca 1939.  Or, made as a prototype, suspected due to the glass ovals are slightly different in shape and hole placement.  Lower glass has an edge chip, shows in fifth picture.
