*****PLEASE NOTE this auction listing is for TWO (2) boards eastern maple (acer rubrum) with ribbon flame figuring to make up a guitar top set for deep dish, carved top application with the approximate dimensions as listed below…….

If you are looking for that special ingredient for that vintage "beauty of the burst*" project and requires a period correct, seasoned material- this ribbon flame pattern might be just the IDEAL “matched top set” for your deep dish, carved top re-top or conversion! Spectacular maple from my own Private Reserve Collection. Medium density, sapwood with bright tap tone!

Please note that these boards are not completely flat and they were rough surfaced planed only (planer hit/skip/miss) to show color, grain and figure. These 2 boards will require to be jointed planed so both faces are parallel and flat. It is approximately .9375” thickness and should yield a workable thickness approximately 7/8” (+/-); LP deep dish has a finished thickness of 5/8”.

Photo’s shows front and back option with LP outline and template overlay. The template and outline are approximately 17.5” x 13” wide.

Photo’s depicts the following: front, back and close up of area’s of the said boards.

Matched Set technique/applications were used back in the 1950’s for burst top guitars- the 2 panels could come from the same plank or from a flitch from a log and were either flip matched, slip matched, etc. in order to form a top set and/or give the “illusion” of being book-matched!

Up for bid are for two (2) boards with premium full figured, “Ribbon Flame” figuring pattern, flat sawn/slab sawn cut, seasoned Eastern Maple (acer rubrum) electric guitar luthier, for matched top set construction/application; LP carved/deep dish top set. This came from a highly figured veneer grade log! This has excellent natural chatoyance, beautiful ribbon curl figuring with an excellent tap tone.

There are template overlays shown on the front and back (non cut-away and single cut-away) shown front and back of the board; an LP single-cut approximately 17-1/2” long, 6-1/2” + wide for fit and proposed lay-out. Please see photo’s with measuring tape measurements for approximation.
