RARE! Vintage 70s BAUMÉ & MERCIER 38261 Baignoire Allongee 18K Gold Manual Watch

Condition/Specs: Up for auction is a very rare Baume Mercier elongated baignoire in solid 18k gold. This could be easily mistaken for a Cartier Allongee, which thanks to demand will cost you at least $20k and up. The minimal no hour marker gold dial just makes this watch even more special and puts emphasis on the perfectly proportioned case. Due to the length of the case and lack of lugs this watch can easily be worn by a man. The case is also thick which adds more heft and wearability on a larger size wrist. 

Baume Mercier is hands down one of the most underrated brands for vintage dress watches. While Cartier and Piaget are skyrocketing, Baume is yet to take off… but maybe soon. Auction only… once it’s gone.. it’s gone.

Case: 18mm wide, and 37mm from lug to lug. Solid 18K Yellow Gold Case, appears to be unpolished, has some light scratches and marks here and there. overall in good condition. This watch wears bigger due to the long shaped case, and my wrist in the photos is a 6 inch wrist. This can be more worn by a man very easily, compare to some of the smaller Cartier Baignoire watches. See pics. 

Dial: Champagne/Gold colored dial. Overall in great condition, has some light aging on the edges barely visible and tiny microscopic marks here and there. See pics.

Crystal: Acrylic, has stress cracks throughout the crystal. Wearable as is. I would leave it as is, as it gives the watch more character. See pics. 

Bezel: N/A

Movement/Functions: Manual wind, runs, cannot guarantee exact timing or if keeping time, seems to lose a little time each day. Selling running, as is. 

Strap: Original leather strap and gold plated original buckle. Strap is heavily worn, and damaged, it is wearable but I highly recommend to buy a new strap.
