Along LMS Routes Volume One - Central & Western Divisions, by Bill Hudson

Published by Headstock in 1988, 144 pages. Hardback with Dust Jacket, c.22cm by 28cm (A39L)

From the inside front fly leaf: Widely known as the author of four books on private owner wagons, Bill Hudson is also known for his models of railways in the Peak District and as a member of the LMS Society. In this two volume work he now sets out to portray the LMS through the eyes of both historian and modeller. Having spent well over twenty years practising the art and science of town planning it is only natural that the author sees the railway as part of the environment and the books have been compiled principally on the theme of a series of journeys, where available photographic records have permitted such treatment. Volume One covers the main lines forming the Central and Western Divisions, and has been deliberately structured to include one of the two main LMS constituents and to finish at Carlisle. Such treatment will. it is hoped, provide a balance and a suitable jumping off point for Volume Two.

The condition of the book is generally very good. The dust jacket has one or two minor scuffs, and colour fading along the left hand edge and outside spine, but the spine itself is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
