Memories of Kerry's Railways, by John Mair

Published by Stenlake in 2022, 48 pages. Rectangular Paperback - 17cm by 24cm (N8379X1)

Brand New Book

The author’s childhood was spent in Berkshire, first near Reading and then at Challow. His first love was trains. After school and a spell in the army he joined British Rail, starting as a porter and later becoming a signalman. After being made redundant for the third time in three years he headed off to Ireland for fresh adventures with his new wife who had her roots in County Kerry. As he says in the book, ‘During the drive from Rosslare to Killorglin I was excited to see mechanical signalling. I could hardly wait to explore the railways of Ireland with my trusty Rollieflex.’ This book is the result and includes images of Lixnaw, Killarney, Farranfore, Glenbeigh Station Signal Box, Kells Signal Box (with scenic backdrop!), Castleisland, Tralee, Fenit, Ardfert, Abbeydorney and Abbeyfeale.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
