Antique Scottish Mauchline Ware Wood Box ( Edinburgh Landmarks ) Treen Trinkets

The box is in lovely condition overall , some screws missing on hinges, but the box still opens and shuts as it should. Please also see all the photographs as they make up a large part of the description. The box measures 8.75 inches across / 3.75 inches in depth and 2 inches in height.


This antique Mauchline Ware trinket box is a beautiful example of Victorian Treen. Made of pale varnished wood ( sycamore ) , this box features  transfer images of famous Edinburgh landmarks, making it the perfect souvenir for tourists or people associated with the city. The box is in its original condition and dates back to the late 19th century (1850-1899). It has a label on the inside for Aberdeen Unuversity.


The box is designed in the shape of a cauldron or bowl and is perfect for storing small trinkets or jewellery. The Mauchline ware technique was popular during the Victorian era and involved transferring images onto the surface of wooden items. This particular box features a transfer of images of Edinburgh landmarks, which adds to its charm and historical value.
