The most minimal shoe in Brooks's Pure collection, the Drift puts your foot in closer contact with the road. The midsole is highly segmented to allow almost total freedom of movement in any direction, and the outsole features more rubber than you ordinarily see in a minimal shoe, providing good durability and traction. Tests measured the heel-to-toe drop at 4.2 mm, but you can remove the insole for an even flatter running surface. Wear-testers liked the burrito-style tongue—it's an extension of the upper on one side, unattached on the other—which stays put while running and wraps the foot comfortably.
