PAUL BREGUETTE Ref. 6266 Vintage Military Style Watch c.1950s

The history of Paul Breguette is shrouded in ambiguity, marked by two distinct narratives. One account suggests that it served as an emblem for Kay Jewelers of Pennsylvania's exclusive line of timepieces, which featured imported Swiss movements housed in American cases. An alternative account positions it as an offshoot of the more eminent and established Ebel, intended for penetration into the American market. Among the brand's more notable creations was its Ultramatic line of triple calendar watches, some which were facsimiles of Girard-Perregaux watches, lending credence to the former account. Adding weight to this narrative is the brand's frequent use of the slogan “A Master of Time since 1791”, which echoes Girard-Perregaux's founding year.

The present reference 6266 exhibits an understated yet compelling military-inspired aesthetic. Dial : original silver matte dial in mint condition, Arabic numerals indices with perfect lume, original blued steel lozenge handset with luminous infill and red sweep seconds hand.

Band : 16mm black genuine leather strap.
