Stalinism and Bolshevisim: Concerning the Historical and Theoretical Roots of the Fourth International. Published by Pioneer Publishers, New York, in 1937. First edition. Introduction by "M.S." Softcover, staple-bound. 30 pages including covers.
Leon Trotsky (1879-1940), one of the leaders of the Russian Revolution in 1918, first published this essay on the wrong turns that Communism took under Stalin in the magazine Socialist Appeal in September and October 1937. This pamphlet was issued thereafter, during Trotsky's lifetime, and we believe it is the first separate publication of this work.
Later editions were published in 1960 and 1970, but don't be fooled -- only the first edition has the modest price of 10 cents on the front cover.
This copy is in nice condition, as shown in photos. The staple-binding has held up. There is some separation at the bottom of the spine and light wrinkling. There are no bookplates, ink names, pen/pencil notations, or similar flaws.
