LITTLE GOLDEN BOOKS  published their first book in 1942, offering it for a quarter in a children's book market of $2.00 - $3.00 which was unattainable for most families. A $.25 average cost for their books remained constant through the 1950's which increased to an average of $.29 in the 1960's. In 1986 their one billionth book was published, with The Poky Little Puppy. In 1996 that book became the 'best selling children's book of all time' according to their webpage. The 1990's also marked the end of a Little Golden Book for an average cost of $1.99, increasing by about a dollar in the 2000's. 2017 was their 75th year anniversary.
