GEORGE KELL * HALL OF FAME 1983: Detroit Tigers

Uniquely signed, postally cancelled cover at Cooperstown, New York, August 1, 1986 on Induction Day

For generations, collectors have used special envelopes (covers) to commemorate important events, sometimes acquire autographs of the subjects. This particular cover was created by an unknown publisher for the 1986 Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It was personally signed by all-time great third baseman GEORGE KELL who had been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame three years earlier (1983). 

Measuring 6-1/2" by 3-5/8" this envelope includes a black and white sketch, brief summary of Kell's HOF career, USPS Liberty stamp and cancellation. George Kell uniquely signed in bold, blue Sharpie. 

George Kell, 10-time American League all-star, played in the majors for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles, 1943 to 1957. He amassed more than 2,000 base hits on a .306 lifetime batting average and was helpful in guiding a number of younger players to big league stardom, including fellow Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson. 

Condition: Very Good to Excellent - check the high-resolution scans, front and back; this is actual cover the buyer will receive.
