Following his defeat in Fantastic Four #144, Doctor Doom and the Sub-Mariner duke it out in the Atlantic Ocean. Flashback cameos by the Fantastic Four, Darkoth, Shalla Bal, and the Silver Surfer. First reprint story: "In the Darkness Dwells Doom!" Script by Roy Thomas. Pencils by John Buscema. Inks by Johnny Craig. While running from the police, the Sub-Mariner seeks shelter in the Latverian Embassy. Of course he meets Doctor Doom...who else? Story originally published in Sub-Mariner #20. Second reprint story: "This Man – This Demon!" Story by Larry Lieber and Roy Thomas. Pencils by Larry Leiber and Frank Giacoia. Inks by Vince Colletta. Dr. Doom enters into an uneasy alliance with Diablo in order to see Valeria again. Story originally published in Marvel Super-Heroes (1st series) 20.
