For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . Factory-sealed set is a Limited Edition of 2,000 ~ Each box of 36 cards is individually numbered! Vermonters In The Major Leagues ~ Issued in 2000 by Vermont Historical Society ~ Offered is an obscure regionally issued card set produced by the Vermont Historical Society in 2000 to commemorate the exhibit Baseball in Vermont: An Enduring Love of the Game which ran from April 8, 2000 until October 31, 2001 at Montpelier, Vermont. This is not a reprint set but an original issued in 2000. Thirty-four (34) of the 36 cards picture a man from Vermont (a Vermonter) who played baseball at the game's highest level: the Major Leagues. Each card measures 3-1/2" by 5" and features a player portrait or action image superimposed over a collage of newspaper copy on the front. The back carries the player's biography, vital statistics and complete major league record. (The two other cards depict and tell the stories of the cards' artist [SABR* member Dick Leyden] and the issuer, Vermont Historical Society. We have reproduced all of the cards (including front and back of card #36/Vermont Historical Society Presents) as well as the box (front and back). The box indicates it is a limited edition of just 2,000 impressions with a unique number (XXXX/2000) imprinted in gold. This is an item of interest to card collectors of unique items, regional card seekers, team specialists and Vermonters everywhere! An interesting set at a great price, this set retailed for $24.95!
